What are Social and Play Skills?

Social skills are the skills we use every day to interact and communicate with others through speech, gesture, facial expression and body language. Social skills are crucial in making and maintaining friendships and having positive social experiences. At Harrisdale Mobile OT, we enable children to improve their social skills through child-led play to enhance their joint attention, turn-taking, rule-following, cooperation and imagination. We may use social stories to teach children specific social skills and role playing to practice how to behave in certain social scenarios. Show More
